Puntland Development Research Center (PDRC), a local research organization based in Garowe, is seeking to engage 1 (one) researcher for the field of Security and Rule of Law (SROL), with the

  following qualifications:

1. University degree in social sciences and related fields (
   governance and security)
2. Ample experience in research activities
3. Fluent in English with good, professional writing skills
4. Computer literate
5. Good in public relations and team work
6. Willing to work wherever necessary in Puntland, including remote areas

 The successful candidate will implement, among others, the following tasks:

Ø  Organize and conduct workshops, seminars or forums and discussion meetings

Ø  Prepare discussion papers for workshop, seminars and forums

Ø  Produce analytical reports and research papers on assigned tasks

Ø  Facilitate workshop proceedings and produce outputs

Ø  Review secondary data and available literature

Ø  Undertake any other assignment that PDRC Director or Program Coordinator deems necessary

From 29^th to 30^th august 2008, the general Assembly meeting of the organization was underway in its main conference hall, in Garowe. PDRC Director made the opening remarks by welcoming participants:-

The Non-state actor’s (NSA) project was launched in Puntland in mid 2005 by PDRC in partnership with Saferworld, an INGO based in Nairobi, Kenya. A preliminary study carried out by PDRC had identified numerous challenges and opportunities that shape the Puntland NSAs. The study had also identified the categories that constitute the NSA and that they are mainly engaged in social services delivery, in the form of health, education, water and peace-building.
